Creating Hand Drawn Elements and Type

May 14 2013

I come from a classical animation background and I enjoy the aesthetic of hand drawn animation. After Effects has several effects that can be combined to create a stylized hand drawn look. Not only can we use these in After Effects, but we can also export these as PNGs and use them in print or web designs as well.

Linking Source Text for Layered Text

April 29 2013

There are many interesting looks you can develop in After Effects through layering different styles of text. Whether it is gradients, textures, blurred video and so many more options, it can become an issue if you need to create multiple versions or also update the text. Camera Shake Expression that has Falloff

April 15 2013

The wiggle expression can be a powerful tool, but when using it we have no control over it outside of setting up initial values. By learning how to set up the wiggle expression to sliders, we gain full control over the camera and it's movements. We can now create a wiggle expression that gives us control over falloff, opening a door to new possibilities.

March 05 2013

I check out cgsociety when I get a chance to and check out to see what everyone else is up to and if anyone needs any help creating things. One of the users had a question about creating a double-sided plane in After Effects. I think this is one of the starting points for users who are curious about getting into 3D.

Why Organization is Important

February 25 2013

Organization is often looked over in the world of training videos and how-to websites. It's something that is rarely discussed but it constantly evolves throughout our careers as artists. Today I provide you a glimpse of how I work and what I do to stay organized.
