Auto Orientation Character Creation

This is the inspiration for this project.

I was looking around on motion served and came across the project Cinematics, by Pier Paolo. A very unique and simplistic style for iconic movie characters, but what stuck out to me was his flat rotating character with 3D elements. I assumed he the project was created in After Effects so I set out to see if I could break the project down and recreate it.

I needed some expressions for the project, so I jumped over to motion script and everyone dies films to get an expression for orientation for one axis and also some expressions for rigging up a character in After Effects. The character is a bit of a work in progress, but there will be more to come!

Linking Source Text for Layered Text

Working with layered type can be tricky sometimes, especially if you want to create more custom and interesting looks. By linking up the source text attribute, you can control layered text with one master text layer. Check out the video to learn more and to also see some of the pitfalls when working with this set up to avoid them in your project.
